Up-and-comer Tori Kelly played to a very enthusiastic crowd last night at House of Blues. The young singer/songwriter, hailing from Wildomar, California, first made a splash as a teen. Nominated at the 58th Grammy awards in the “Best New Artist” category, she has slowly gained a following due to a large social media presence.
She’s released five studio albums and done voiceover work for movies, most notably the animated film Sing. Taking the stage promptly at 8:00, she offered a spirited set of twenty-one tunes that was a little shy of two hours.
Joining her in support was London-born, L.A-transplant Maisy Kay. A short set of twenty-five minutes warmed up the large HOB crowd. The highlight of her set was a sultry cover of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl.”
