When locals Forgotten Souls of Antiquity released their self-titled debut in 2011, we wrote that the band plays a mix of “SoCal punk and straight-up psychobilly.” With its raspy vocals and sped-up tempors, the group evokes acts such as Social Distortion. Now, the guys are prepping the release of their terrific new album, Desolation Ridge. The band will play a CD Release show at 9 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Yorktown Lanes with longtime local Bill Fox.
Unfortunately, the group will perform without bass player Patrick Christopher, who passed away right after recording wrapped. “The songs on Desolation Ridge contain his final studio recordings,” says multi-instrumentalist frontman BillMike in a press release. “We dedicate this album to Pat and his loved ones. We were privileged to play with such a good man, for his friendship and his presence, and are honored to have not only his talent preserved on this record, but also for experiences shared and memories made. These we will carry with us always.”
