The main singer in Rilo Kiley, a band that emerged in early 2000s as part of the whole indie/emo craze, singer Jenny Lewis has held down a solo career for the past decade. With the now defunct Rilo Kiley, her bandmates kept her purely pop tendencies in check. On her own, she doesn’t show the same restraint and often evokes the disposable dreck you hear on commercial radio these days (think Katy Perry or Taylor Swift). Songs such as “Head Water” and “She’s Not Me” resemble the middle-of-the-road pop music that was so popular in the ’70s. While there’s a bit of a soul feel to the songs, they ultimately have a blandness to them despite Lewis’ pretty vocals. The snappy “Just One of the Guys,” a tune that features snarky lyrics about trying to fit in, fares better as does “Slippery Slopes,” a track that sounds more like Throwing Muses than Katy Perry. But because it’s so inconsistent, the album’s not likely to make Lewis into the mainstream star she deserves to be. — Niesel

If this seems like overposting, I generally publish when I’ve been assaulted, or when my privacy is ignored, or when my cats cry out in pain by some action of government. I’ve been assaulted thousands of times over the past decade now, I’m sure that estimate is accurate….the other day one of my cats was bleeding, hair missing from its back, and two of them actually have scabs on their back as a result of being shot with energy weaponry. The federal government of course has all the power in the world to stop it. My tooth was knocked out in increments, over a 2 year span by energy weaponry assaults, for stating and proving the crimes committed by the federal government, absolute torture, like having a tooth drilled without novocaine for several hours.
