As Lil Wayne preps for a yearlong prison stay on weapons charges, he’s busy getting things in order with his hip-hop empire.
Next week, his long-delayed “rock album,” Rebirth, will finally be released. And last month, he released the We Are Young Money compilation featuring cuts by a bunch of mostly unknown rappers on his Young Money label.
But these are the clowns he’s leaving his dynasty with while he’s gone?
Of the Top 10 worst rappers working today, six of them are collecting a paycheck from Young Money.
I may be exaggerating … but just a little. After hearing the album, you can pick and choose which half-dozen are the worst. They’re all awful (except Drake; I’m not sure what he’s doing here. I like his singles).
Then again, maybe you like songs that go, “Open up her legs then filet mignon that pussy/I’ma get in and on that pussy/If she let me in I’ma own that pussy.”
Or songs by a guy named Gudda Gudda.
Or songs by a crew that has no flow and rhymes “can’t continue” with “gang member.”
In that case, you’ll probably like Young Money. I just hope Weezy likes what’s left off his empire when he gets out of prison.—Michael Gallucci

Finally! Someone who tells the truth! Young Money lacks flow and skills. Their lyrics literally change topic line by line (usually revolving around pussy, money, and weed) and their style consists of sheer wordplay. No concepts, no themes, no ideas tying the piece together – just metaphors and similes that the masses seem to think are “hard”. Of course, radio rap is all a gimmick geared toward sales. It makes sense that they sell – they do rock the latest fashion, tattoos & piercings, rides, and ice. A distinction must be made here; Young money is a group of horribly awful, terrible, no-good, very-bad lyricists. But, they are good rappers capable of captivating those looking for a catchy tune.
I can’t believe I’m reading an article by a guy named “Michael Gallucci…” In all honesty though, leave your 100% opinion-based ranting to yourself. The people who know what good music is are the people who are making the money off it, not the slobs sitting behind their computer writing a half-ass article bashing creative talents because it’s not their favorite genre or style. The bottom line is, talent doesn’t always mean how good your name looks, or how your ‘intelligent’ your lyrics are… sometimes it’s just about the music. And apparently YM understands that a bit more than you.
Young Money is just just awful. Even Wayne and Drake suck. Look at the other rappers that are out there still making music and rhymes: Q-Tip, Common, Lupe, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Ice Cube, Raekwon, etc…My point is that there’s no flow to what this batch of shitty rappers like Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Drake and Wayne put out…it’s just all a bunch of rhymes bunched together and it sounds good on the radio, but put your ear closer and it’s a bunch of stupid shit. All the same stuff that we’ve been hearing record companies shove down our throats. When are we going to appreciate the TRUE storytellers again? Drake is a nobody in the game, hot only because he’s under Wayne’s wing, but honestly, the guy doesn’t have the essentials to be legend in the game, not even a lasting force! This is the upper middle class kid from Toronto, Canada that played a crippled kid on a teen drama and overnight turns into the hardest rapper in the game? His arrogance is almost laughable. Drop me a classic album and then I’ll pay attention, until then, I’ll go back to listening to my 36 Chambers, Illmatic, The Predator, and Chronic albums anxiously waiting for the REAL next big thing…

That child they have, Lil Twist or whatever the hell his name is, he’s god-awful. Gudda Gudda is okay. Tyga should have to PAY US to get his songs out there, or be banned eternally from music.
