Local singer-songwriter Allan Licht has written two tunes about Cleveland that he’s hoping will become theme songs for the city. The two tracks — “Cleveland’s Got It All” and “Have a Merry Cleveland Christmas” — have Cleveland-centric lyrics that include references to everything from the Horseshoe Casino to Severance Hall. He plans to manufacture 1000 CDs and start selling the tunes as singles.

“This theme song could easily become Cleveland’s theme song, but it needs to get exposure and support for that to happen,” he says of “Cleveland’s Got It All.” “My vision is to have the song played on the radio, used on TV, played at ball games and Playhouse Square events. It’s something the Visitor’s Bureau could use for promotion. The usage is endless. It’s a wonderful tool to promote the city as well as to inspire those that live here.”

WMMS DJ Jeff Kinzbach likes the jazzy tune and has called it “one heck of a great song.”

One thing’s for sure: it won’t be easy to replace “Cleveland Rocks.”

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.

  1. He has a pretty ambitious list for the pair of songs. The endearing theme songs of the North Coast have to be from the Baloney Heads — “I’m A Drunk” and “Life’s Rough”.

  2. To CleWNTL,

Your comment and opinion about my song is fine, but no one has heard the song except for a select few people. It won’t be released until March 15th. Unless you’re telepathic your comment is baseless.

  3. Unless they’re now playing it before and after games at the “Q” in which case you have heard it. I appreciate all comments positive and negative and I’m glad it’s getting some action being played.
