Local singer-songwriter Steve Wright started performing as a “one-man band” a couple of years ago after he moved to Cleveland from Youngstown. Wright, who plays what he calls “a heavy interpretation of modern rock with a progressive and cinematic feel incorporating pop melodies,” cites Jesu, M83, David Bowie, Russian Circles, Tool, Sigur Ros, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Black Sabbath and Coldplay as influences.
In advance of his forthcoming new album, Perspective, he’s released a music video for the single “Talking to Myself.” Directed by Alexi Barni, the black and white video features one continuous shot of Wright walking down the street. Jim Wirt (Incubus) recorded the song locally at Superior Sound Studios.
Wright will play an album release party at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Negative Space.
Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
