Chad Gray, frontman for Mudvayne and his side project, the supergroup Hellyeah, stopped at the House of Blues on Wednesday night fronting a trifecta of bands for a night of nu metal confections. Stalwarts Butcher Babies and newbies Devil’s Cut opened the show.
The “30 Years of Madness” tour celebrates Gray’s three decades in the music business, where he alternated between his outfit Mudvayne and, after they went on hiatus, as the frontman for the supergroup Hellyeah.
Butcher Babies’ frontwoman Heidi Shepherd brought her usual-manic energy that propelled her set’s decibel level up into the rafters of the downtown venue. Longtime co-vocalist Carla Harvey left the band in 2024 to form her own outfit; she’s since become the vocalist for the Belgian band Lords of Acid.
Kentucky natives Devil’s Cut started the evening with a half-hour warmup set of southern-flavored rock.
