Washington-state bred rockers Modest Mouse played a show at Jacobs Pavilion on a stormy evening two days ago.  The indie outfit, founded in 1993, offered a two-hour drive through the band’s catalog, as well as offerings from their new album, An Eraser and a Maze, which was released in June of this year.

Frontman Isaac Brock, bathed in palettes of green and blue light on the dimly-lit stage, sang through the constant drizzle that accompanied the band through their performance.

Brock, the only consistent member since the band’s founding, played guitar and took vocal duties while surrounded by the sextet.

Up and comer Caroline Rose, a Long Island native, opened with a forty-minute set of  wispy pop.  Sounding a little like early Julee Cruise or Mazzy Star, her recordings have gained a strong and steady following since an initial release in 2012.  Veering away from folk and into a more accessible pop sound she last released an album, Year of the Slug, about eighteen months ago.
