Dayton, Ohio-founded metalcore outfit The Devil Wears Prada led a foursome of bands on Friday night at Cleveland’s House of Blues.
The sold-out venue got steamy quickly as the first really beautiful evening of the new month commenced. Screamo band I Promised The World started out the night with a half-hour set of melodic harmonies interrupted by lead singer’s Caleb Molina’s vocal cord-shredding screaming. Up next was UK-based quintet Split Chain, offering a grunge set of metal.
Four Year Strong, a Worcester, Mass.-based power pop quartet, played a longer set and ramped up the temps as the venue declined to crank up the AC.
The Devil Wears Prada took the stage at 9:30 and played for 90 minutes. The crowd-surfing ramped up during their set and the HOB security guards really earned their money as half the audience found their way into the pit at least once, much to the chagrin of the shorter folks near the barricade.
