Shock rocker Rob Zombie brought his “Freaks on Parade” tour to Blossom on a very hot late summer Wednesday evening. Besides his gothic attire and horror bent, he’s also widely known for directing several cult classic films such as House of a Thousand Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.
In tow were Canton native Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Manson), Orgy, and the biggest surprise of the night The Hu.
Hailing from Mongolia and incorporating several traditional Mongolian instruments, Mongolian “Throat Singing,” and combining that with good old-fashioned death metal, their sound was something unique. Oh, and they dressed like members of Gengis Khan’s army.
Manson played a forty-five minute set, heating up the audience, many of whom were decked out in leather pants and jackets. Honestly, why would you don anything leather in hundred degree heat? How many visits to the med tent remains unknown, but the medics must’ve been busy throughout the show.
Headliner Zombie took the stage around 9:30, and really amped things up. Manson’s set seemed almost like yacht Rock compared to the spectacle that Zombie and company gave to the crowd. The light, never the best, gave the show a horror-like atmosphere.
