Alternative outfit The Pretty Reckless played the House of Blues on Wednesday night to a packed-to-the-rafters crowd. The band, fronted by Taylor Momsen, had originally scheduled the show for September 10th, but had to postpone for a few days due to Momsen’s last-minute opportunity to sing with Soundgarden in Seattle at the Seahawks home opener halftime show.
Notably absent from Wednesday’s makeup date was opener Paris Jackson, daughter of the King of Pop, leaving indie rockers Doug as the only support act.
Momsen, who started her career as a young child actress (she played Cindy Lou-Who in the Jim Carrey remake of How the Grinch Stole Christmas about 25 years ago), formed the band in 2009, as a quartet.
Picking up steam with several EP releases, the outfit really broke wide with the 2014 release of Going to Hell, charting several singles off of that record.
Their trajectory has only been uphill since then and the and has gained notoriety for their engaging and high energy performances.
Wednesday’s HOB stop was in support of their new album Dear God. They offered fifteen tunes in total, playing for a little over 105 minutes.
With Paris Jackson bowing out for the rescheduled Cleveland show, openers Doug gave a half hour of spirited alternative rock.
