“We’ve been around for more than a decade now and folks are always telling us how the shows feel like a reunion and have become a tradition they look forward to,” says founder Chris Allen (Rosavelt, the Boys from County Hell, Falling Stars) in a press release. “That inspires us to make the party bigger and better with each passing year. [Our new songs] elicit a little of that joy I felt as a kid sledding, playing hockey with friends and listening to Nat King Cole on Christmas.”
In addition to Allen, the band features Doug McKean (the Boys From the County Hell), Brent Kirby (the Jack Fords, the New Soft Shoe), Austin “Walkin’ Cane” Charanghat, Don Dixon, Kelly Wright (the Anne E. DeChant Band), Matt Sobol (the Waynes), Nick Stipanovich (the Boys From the County Hell) and Dave Padrutt (Falling Stars).
“I always really look forward to this annual month of fun with my favorite musicians and friends,” says McKean. “For me the holidays were about Christmas break and putting on every article of clothing I could find and then attempting to play football in the snow that bundled up.”
“When the season rolls around, we get to reconnect, play music together, and watch all of our friends who come and see us sing along with the band – there’s nothing better,” adds Kirby. “I remember sneaking down in the middle of night on Christmas Eve — I must have been about seven — only to suddenly realize that Santa could still be in the house and hightailing it back upstairs as quickly as I could.”
The band will perform a family friendly daytime concert at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, at Music Box Supper Club and a big evening bash at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, at House of Blues with local singer-songwriter Alexis Antes opening.
