The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yesterday broke ground on the exciting 50,000 square-foot, $100 million expansion project to completely transform the museum.

The MC for the event was CEO Greg Harris. Cleveland’ Mayor Justin Bibb also spoke on the great impact the Rock Hall has on Cleveland for tourism and the economy: Over 14 million visitors have walked thru the Rock Hall of Fame.

Inductees attending the event included:
1992 Inductee Sam Moore of Sam & Dave
1998 Inductee Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas
1995 Inductee Martha Reeves of Martha & The Vandellas
2021 Inductee Charlotte Caffey of The Go-Go’s
2021 Inductee Gina Schock of The Go-Go’s

This dramatic project, designed by world-renowned architecture firm PAU, will channel the energy of rock & roll, pay homage to the existing I.M. Pei building, and amp up the museum’s lakefront location. It will provide:

  • Indoor event and performance space to experience the power of live music.
  • A breathtaking entry experience worthy of rock & roll.
  • Much-needed spaces to expand the number of students served.
  • Additional areas for the community to gather and connect.
  • A student center for visitors to experience our archives.
