Naked Truths (self-released)

Twenty-year-old Cleveland-bred Cameroon native Lorine Chia made quite a splash when she released her self-titled debut last year. That album featured a collaboration with up-and-comer Chance the Rapper that certainly helped get her some exposure. But make no mistake: Chia is a star in her own right. She’s in fine form on this terrific follow-up that suggests big things are in her future. She channels the late Amy Winehouse on the woozy opening track “Fly High” and puts on gangsta airs for the rousing “Bout It.” The eclectic album features a little bit of everything, including reggae (“Da Fire”) and trip-hop (“Lost in My Mind” and “Feel the Music”). — Jeff Niesel

Lorine Chia performs with DJ Fugitive, Atari Jones, Kipp Stone, Creez Mob, R the Czar, Aphiniti, Tae Fresh, Chris Black and Thurm at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, at the Foundry.
