The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will announce the list of 2011 induction nominees on Tuesday.

At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, you can go to the Rock Hall website to check out the list of nominees. You can also read about them and check out some of their best songs.

More than 500 voters submitted lists of artists who are eligible to be inducted into the HOF next year.

The winners will be inducted into the Rock Hall in a ceremony on March 14 held in (wait for it) New York.

To be eligible, artists’ first singles would need to be released no later than 1985.

Who do you think should be nominated? Leave us your picks in the comments. —Michael Gallucci

  1. Johnny Maestro ~ As the lead singer of The Crests (16 Candles in 1958), his group was one of the first interracial groups in rock & roll. They were true rock pioneers and paved the way for future groups. Ten years later, he fronted The Brooklyn Bridge (Worst That Could Happen), the first jazz/rock group. Forty-two years later, his voice remained strong and vibrant, and he did his final concert with The Brooklyn Bridge just two months before his death in March 2010.

  2. Willy DeVille with his band, Mink DeVille, were real performance artists, with a unique sound apart from everyone else. Willy’s songwriting and singing are soulful, hearfelt, sexy and poignant rocknroll. He continued to perform and grow, change his style, but not his commitment to innovation and professional performance. A musician’s musician, Willy is famous among some here, many in Europe. A real American rocknroll orginal, Storybook Bad Boy Willy DeVille should Spanish Stroll and slide easy into the rocknroll Hall of Fame.

  3. It would be a honor if the Legendary Guitarist Hank Garland was inducted. Hank Garland played Guitar for Elvis Presley , Roy Orbsion and 100’s of artist,
we wish you all the best,
    The Hank Garland Family

  4. I would like to see Stevie Ray Vaughan inducted and The Moody Blues inducted. Both I feel are highly deserving of this honor!! Not since Jimi Hendrix had anyone played the guitar like Stevie Ray and of course the Moody Blues should of been inducted years ago!!

  5. The always surprising, intelligent and witty Sparks – brothers Ron and Russell Mael – deserve to be inducted for their innovative, influential contributions to pop music over the past 40 years. Possibly the most overlooked long-running pop act in America, Sparks nonetheless have a loyal fanbase, including fellow musicians like the Ramones, Franz Ferdinand, They Might be Giants and Bjork. Following their unprecedented live performances of all 21 of their albums during the spring of 2008, they released their 22nd work, the pop opera “The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman,” originally created for Swedish radio and now being adapted into a feature film by director Guy Madden. I would love to see them finally get the recognition they deserve!

  6. Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, The Monkees, The Turtles, T. Rex, Donovan, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Yes, King Crimson, The New York Dolls, Kiss, Kraftwerk, Roxy Music, Rush, Grand Funk Railroad, The Small Faces, and well…I’ll leave it at that for the time being.

And hats off to the person here who suggested Sparks! Amen to the brothers Mael and all they have done and continue to do!

  7. This year the original Alice Cooper band will get in unless Neil and Donna beat them out. Each year the legendary anti-establishment MC5 are overlooked by the Rock Hall. It’s an embarrassment. I’m quite sure the establishment(voters) don’t understand the importance of this great band. Behind the political rhetoric was a powerful and influential group. I dare the rock hall to admit a non feelgood group. Last year it was the Stooges. Next year in Cleveland I hope to see the MC5 kicking out the jams.

Let’s also not forget Roxy Music, Grand Funk, Moody Blues, Yes, Nugent, Deep Purple and countless others who actually rock compared to the pop acts nominated this year.
