A concert that celebrates the combination of classical music and opera with classic rock, ROCKTOPIA, a touring musical, features world-class vocalists and top rock musicians with the aim of celebrating “the combination of classical music and opera with classic rock.”

For co-founder Randall Craig Fleischer, who attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the musical represents the culmination of a life-long pursuit.

“I’ve been doing rock fusion projects for pretty much my whole career, for 30 years or so,” Fleischer told us last year in advance of a State Theatre show. “I was a rock ’n’ roll fan from the beginning. I remember when ‘Stairway to Heaven’ was the top song on the Top 40 for I don’t know how many weeks. I’m old enough to remember those things. All the music that was classic rock was huge when I was a kid. I then became interested in classical music after singing in the high school choir.”

ROCKTOPIA returns to Northeast Ohio for a series of shows this fall.

Performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Akron Civic Theatre, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at the Youngstown Powers Memorial Auditorium and at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the State Theatre.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 15, for the Akron and Youngstown shows and at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15, for the State Theatre show.
