Like Roué’s two previous releases, Totally Fuckin Totally lifts your spirits by kicking your ass. The four-song EP starts like a sunrise, with the long, building jam “Some Future, Some Despair” — four minutes of exploding-heart guitar, bass, and drum interplay. It’s the kind of soul-wrenching tsunami that Sonic Youth pioneered, but the Cleveland indie luminaries now officially have their own sound, a pure-bliss swirl of tension and release. You can listen at MySpace, but the record is available only as 10″ vinyl. And it’s the perfect excuse to buy a turntable. Totally.
