Locally based jazz saxophonist Krivda has had international success as a recording artist and released over a dozen albums in his long career that stretches back decades.

Earlier this month, Krivda released his latest album, A Bright and Shining Moment. It features solos from members of Krivda’s septet, including pianist Joe Hunter, trombonist Chris Anderson, bassist Marion Hayden and trumpeter Steve Enos. The late Marshall Baxter Beckley is the featured vocalist on a rendition of “Summertime.”

A 2009 recipient of the Cleveland Arts Prize award for lifetime achievement in music, Krivda has performed with acts such as Ella Fitzgerald, Buddy DeFranco and David Sanborn, Krivda has also won the Jazz Legends award from the Tri-C Jazz Festival and a Community Partnership of Arts and Culture Fellowship.

He’ll celebrate the release of A Bright and Shining Moment on Friday, July 6, at Akron’s BLU Jazz+.

The show at begins at 8 p.m., and tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
