You've been a fixture in the Cleveland rock and punk underground for decades. What are some of the definitive albums to come from this city in the last 20 years?

Disengage, Obsessions Become Phobias. The Guns LP that's been semi-unreleased; it was tacked as a bonus on the end of the Bowel CD, but it is the definitive Cleveland hardcore LP. The first Boulder LP. Knifedance, Wolf Hour. The Minch 7". Purgatory, Tied to the Trax. The first H-100s 7". Uncle Scratch's Gospel Revival's first CD. The first Cider Appreciation Society 7".

You're known for your punch-in-the-face live gigs. But what do you like to listen to when you chill out?

Hawkwind. Pelican. Willie Nelson. Gong. Björk. Neu. Red Sparowes. Beefheart. Terminal Lovers. Drive-By Truckers.

Name some records that folks would least expect to find in your collection.

Fiona Apple, Tidal. Jimmy Smith, Respect -- he's an awesome soul keyboard-organ player. The Amélie soundtrack. The first X-Clan album -- it's militant black power hip-hop with a slight trance-acid house vibe. Smashing Pumpkins' Gish. Hoodoo Gurus, Stoneage Romeos -- great rootsy Aussie power pop, with lyrical content focusing on B-movies, fast food, etc. Magnapop, Rubbing Doesn't Help -- excellent loud quirky Athens power pop . . . great songwriting and unbelievable guitar tone.
