Last year, members of the rap group the Geto Boys began to discuss the possibility of reuniting for one final tour.

It took a tragedy to bring the tour to fruition.

In the wake of member Bushwick Bill’s Stage 4 cancer diagnosis, the group has decided to hit the road one last time.

The group will play just a handful of shows at the end of this month in order for fans to be able to see the group together one last time. Dubbed the Beginning of a Long Goodbye, the tour will benefit pancreatic cancer awareness.

“I look forward to joining the guys again for this final farewell to the Geto Boys,” says Brad “Scarface” Jordan in a press release. “We had a lot of memories, good and bad, and a lot of great music. Man, it’s gonna be a tear jerker walking away from this, a time in my life that threw learning curves and growing pains at the same time. Thanks to all the Geto Boys and Girls around the world that helped to protect this brand.”

The group will perform on May 25 at the Agora Theatre. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday.

  1. I hate rap, so I’ve never heard of the Geto Boys, but that is too, too sad. Cancer has taken some of my friends and relations, and will probably take a few more of them while I’m still here. Horrible disease, horrible way to go. My sympathies to Bill, whom I don’t even know. Tear jerker indeed. I’m bummed.
