The band’s anticipated new album, Heavy is the Head, comes out on Nov. 10, and the group has just made the disc available for preorder. Fans who pre-order the album will automatically receive a free copy of the single, “Hey Now,” a jazzy/hip-hop-inflected call-at-arms about how the “rich are getting richer and the poor are getting killed.” It’s good stuff, and it speaks to the current political climate.
“Our socio-political views vary as much as our musical tastes and always seep into the music,” says frontman Matthew Roads in a press release about the album. “There’s certainly a lot that needs to be said, but on this record we tried to be well-rounded and touch on a broad scope of emotions. We pride ourselves in being original in our musicality and personality as a band but also in not taking ourselves so seriously that it ruins the fun.”
For the remainder of the year, the band has a handful of live shows lined up, including three Midwest dates with 311 and a New Year’s Eve gig at the Grog Shop.
