A local indie folk band, the Speedbumps first came together in 2007. Singer-guitarist Erik Urycki had dropped out of Kent after freshman year and spent a summer writing songs and playing guitar. That’s when he decided to put the group together.

Shortly after forming, the band would perform with artists such as Andrew Bird, G. Love and OKGO.

This fall marks the 10th anniversary of the band’s first release. The group’s performance on Sept. 22 at the Kent Stage will serve as a 10-year anniversary party. It’ll also mark the group’s first gig in Kent in two years, and some former members will sit in with the band.

Tickets are $17 in advance, $20 day of show. The concert begins at 8 p.m. and doors open at 7 p.m.

Jeff has been covering the Cleveland music scene for more than 25 years now. On a regular basis, he tries to talk to whatever big acts are coming through town. And if you're in a local band that he needs to hear, email him at jniesel@clevescene.com.
