The 42nd edition of the Village Voice Pazz + Jop poll,  a compilation of Top 10 records and singles of the year that’s gathered by polling critics across the country, has just come out. D’Angelo and the Vanguard’s Black Messiah, the soul/R&B singer’s long-awaited follow-up to 2000’s Voodoo, took top honors. You can check out the entire poll (and see how each critic voted) here. For what it’s worth, here’s the ballot I submitted.
