Duo Decibel System (DDS), a Cleveland-based rock duo featuring singer-guitarist Miss Melvis and drummer John Scully, Duo Decibel System possesses some serious local cred.

Over the years, the band’s two members have played with acts such as the Heathers, Chump, Flat Can Company, Numbskull, Starvation Army and the SLAP Jazz Quartet.

The story of two local rockers who struggle to overcome a breakup, their new album, Exit Stage Love, features a wide array of musical styles as the duo dabbles in punk, folk, ambient noise and “sequenced minimalism.”

Album opener “It Only Hurts” includes snarling guitars and hiccupping vocals as the two manage to create quite a racket.

The band hosts a listening parting and performance at 6 p.m. on Friday — request an invite through its Facebook page.

Also, Firehose/Minutemen bassist Mike Watt will interview the band on his Watt from Pedro show on Thursday, Aug. 18. Additionally, the band will perform with Tom Adams and the Last Resort on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Brothers Lounge. The show will feature “guests and storytelling.”

    The band hosts a listening parting? Indeed. I would probably walk after far less than a minute…BUT…having worked in a few libraries in my lifetime…”Duo Decibel System” is one of the BEST band names EVER. Three chuckles from Chuckles, dudes!
