Cleveland has been chosen as a finalist in JetBlue's Soar With Reading contest. Not only does the winning city receive a donation of more than $25,000 in children's books, it also gets a reading room makeover in one of the city's local libraries.
The contest, started in 2011, is part of an effort from JetBlue to encourage reading among youth in undeserved communities. Since 2015, the company has also distributed vending machines in major cities filled with free books.
Cleveland is competing with 15 other major cities around the country, all of which are JetBlue market areas, including Atlanta, Buffalo, Orlando and more. The winning city is selected through online voting, which ends August 31.
