Before Halloween even comes around, Great Lakes Brewing will release the first precious pours of Christmas Ale, the potent potion oh so many Clevelanders love (and that many don’t know has been around since 1992). Too early? Nah, not for Cleveland. The first pour goes down on Thursday, October 27 at the annual Christmas Ale tapping party that commences at the brewery’s headquarters in Ohio City in the morning and continues all day. It comes replete with Santa costumes and contests and other holiday-tinged festivities. But, yeah, mainly beer.
Christmas Ale be available in bottles at your friendly local convenient stores and grocery stores on Tuesday November 1.

Too fuckin’ early.
I don’t want shandys in March, I don’t want Oktoberfests when it’s 90 degrees in August and I don’t want Christmas Ales in October. The microbrew marketing arms race created this nonsense and it needs to stop.
Too early, or too late… does it really matter? Me personally, I usually do not drink once-a-year holiday or seasonal beers. I just stick with what I know and what I prefer, and then enjoy the moment.

It’s just beer folks. I don’t see why people get so vexed over the availability dates. I like this beer a lot and so I buy at least a case in the first week of distribution. Let people enjoy things..
Let people enjoy things… It is on sale in bottles for two months. The dates of availability should not vex people to this degree. I like it, buy at least a case in the first week, and then it is done before the new year.
