Katherine Brown and Carnell Sledge Credit: Netflix/Family photos

The unsolved murders of Carnell Sledge and Katherine Brown in the Rocky River Reservation on June 4, 2019 have stumped police and investigators ever since, with few leads and no firm suspects.

A new nationwide spotlight might provide some hope as Netflix’s ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ series features the case in one of this season’s new episodes. (It’s streaming now.)

The brutal murders happened while Sledge and Brown, who had been friends for over a decade, sat on a park bench in broad daylight in a heavily trafficked park. Their bodies were found near the western bank of Rocky River, close to the Lorain Road Bridge.

Despite law enforcement receiving many tips and having conducted at least 270 interviews, and despite the offer of a $100,000 reward, the killer has never been found.

The episode includes interviews with the victims’ families, examines possible suspects who were eventually ruled out by law enforcement and recreates a timeline of events that took place the day of the murders.

Since the episode’s airing, there’s been an increased awareness through social media, including a Facebook page dedicated to the case and a Reddit thread.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 216-252-7463.
