Police across the country were on high alert this weekend, given that the Thanksgiving holiday is one of the busiest bar times — and DUI times — of the year. But no police department, perhaps, had as odd an apprehension this weekend as the North Ridgeville unit.
At approximately 5 a.m. on Friday, police received a call from a motorist claiming he had spotted a kangaroo on Lorain road near Stonebriar. Turns out, a marsupial, nicknamed “Foster,” had escaped from the nearby Little Big Farm, a husband-wife owned retreat for rescued animals.
“We got a call and were asked if our kangaroo was missing around 6 a.m.,” Little Big Farm co-owner Candice Hanna told Cleveland.com. “Sure enough he was not in his heated barn, though we can’t figure out how he got away. He could not have gotten over the eight-foot-high fence.”
The Hannas went out to retrieve the animal, and found him “quietly standing with police waiting to be picked up,” Cleveland.com reports.
Foster was taken home and treated for dehydration.
