Following reports of harassment by two male turkeys in the area, the birds have been euthanized. The decision was made after an officer from the Ohio Division of Wildlife witnessed one of the birds violently peck at a woman’s pant leg. The woman was ultimately unharmed, being shielded from the turkey’s beak by layers of winter clothing.
“This could have been a different situation, especially if the bird continued to become bolder,” a spokeswoman from the Ohio Division of Natural Resources told Fox 8.
In what may read like a setup for an Orwellian allegory relating to a Thanksgiving related uprising, this turkey attack was not an isolated incident. Other postal carriers and joggers in the area have reported turkey harassment in recent months.
Following the euthanization on Friday, the turkey carcasses were fed to birds of prey at an animal rehabilitation center.

What is it with the near-west suburbs war on animals ?
Pit Bulls in Lakewood, Wild Turkeys in Rocky River, next thing you know Bay will be culling Gulls and other Waterfowl that wander outside of a waterfront Metropark.
Speaking of Metroparks and the area Zoos, not to mention the area Ohio State Parks, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park,, how in the hell can you call yourself a “Wildlife Officer” when killing the wildlife is a primary control method ?
These guys must be training to impress the TV scouts, and join the CPD, or “J.V. Hater’s Team” in Euclid !
