Update: The Ohio Supreme Court ruled unanimously in a 7-0 vote to bestow upon the great douchewad Vince Stafford a one-year suspension. He will spend his new-found free time eating children. (Cleveland.com)

Four years ago we introduced you to the two-man wrecking crew of brothers Joseph and Vincent Stafford, the brash attorneys widely regarded by observers as the biggest dicks in divorce court (“Monsters of Misery Court,” April 26, 2006).
Among their patented moves: threats, intimidation, and the occasional fisticuffs. It’s all designed to make the joyride through a disintegrating marriage that much more fun for everyone involved.
But it appears their reign is facing a challenge: Vincent recently defended himself in a record-setting 22-day hearing before an Ohio Supreme Court disciplinary committee. He was accused of five counts ranging from trying to frustrate other lawyers, to tangling with his client’s ex-husband at a Browns game, to nearly driving a deadbeat husband to a killing spree.

Opinions are based on perspective, from my perspective Vince represented me by being well prepared, professional,thorough, and absolutely masterful in trial. I am grateful I have Vince and his staff to represent me, I can tell a story where the good guy didn’t get screwed by the system or a vengeful ex-wife. I’m sure from the other side it appears just the opposite, I’ll contend it’s just sour grapes, like it or not these guys are the best. LG
My sister is represented by Joseph Stafford in a divorce case and I can honestly say I have NEVER seen any wrong doing, improper behavior in this case.As a matter of fact Mr. Stafford is an exceptional lawyer. What I would like to comment on though is the system as a whole. I hope that the disciplinary counsel reviews their system on a case by case basis to uncover a whole lot of inept personnell in the domestic relations court system. What I learned is that no one cares about the kids, the plaintiff or the defendant, and it’s all about the money. GAL’s , FCS, magistrates and the whole lot of them should be under review, and I hope they are…. For those in this system that still really care, they are overworked by a case load that no one could handle. Then the good ones leave. There should be a time limit on these cases (and there supposedly is, but no one adheres to it). It is a free for all. Everyone wants to look at the Stafford’s , for whatever their reasons might be, either they lost to them , or whatever the reason. But a system is only as strong as it’s weakest link….. we are in trouble. The Stafford’s are not the problem…. and one last thing, if the people in the system have a problem with the Stafford’s behavior in the past, can they judge cases and make decisions unbiased? really? Because if not, we have a bigger problem.
It’s easy to stand up for the man when he isne’t making YOUR life a living hell. The Stafford brothers represent my mother in law and I can tell you they are VERY underhanded. My father in law has practically committed suicide dealing with them. Here’s hoping they get suspended for good!
I personally witnessed Vince Stafford and he acted as thug and liar . This man should be banned until he pays back his clients he misrepresented and the others he maligned. This is more than a legal OSCDC, it is a reflection of who we are as a society and he stinks. Why do we let lawyers get away with this?
Anyone who hired these brothers to battle for them was not looking for justice, just revenge. They purposefully dragged out proceedings to pad their invoices. Tsk tsk. Just another case of karma coming back to bite ’em in the arse 😀
I personally have had experience with Joe Stafford, Vince’s brother in crime. He overcharged me, extorted me, intimidated me, and slammed another lawyer that represented me after I terminated his services. Also, on the day of my divorce hearing, he presented me with a rediculous bill and has continually billed me for the last 6 years charging me a whopping $1000 mo. interest! He presented me with a 7 page fee agreement when I only signed a 2 page agreement with my signature on the last page. I never initialed the other pages as is standard in a contract. He should be disbarred!!!! He dragged out the proceedings, billed me inappropriately and threatened to not represent me the day before a hearing if I didn’t bring him a “big fat check”! I brought him a check alright, got home and stopped payment since he was useless during my proceedings. Then I terminated him. I know several people that retained him for their divorces and had the same experiences – it’s a small world! The only way to stop him is more people need to complain to the Cleveland Bar Association and the Ohio Bar Association. And then tell everyone you know not to hire this scheister!!!!
