Loehmann was fired by the City of Cleveland not for killing Tamir — for which former County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty failed to indict him or his partner Frank Garmback — but for lying on his application.
Tamir Rice’s mother Samaria Rice dropped off petitions at Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association (CPPA) headquarters earlier this week, asking that President Jeff Follmer desist in his attempts to get Loehmann rehired.
Michigan Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib responded appropriately to the news on social media.

Damn right, appropriately. This person has already proven that he’s incapable of performing the functions of his job under pressure. Why in the hell would anyone ever consider putting a gun in this mans hand ever again in the service of law enforcement? He was such a coward that he shot a child without so much as a put your hands up. He doesn’t even qualify to guard a mall with a can of mace.
Part of a Police Officers job is to put his life on the line to diffuse situations like the one this coward already proved he was incapable of handling. I’m all for second chances, but not at the expense of innocent lives. I wish him well doing something else, anything else, but not back on the force, another innocent child or otherwise will die and another set of parents will be left to grieve if he’s allowed into another position of authority, mark my words.
I support him getting his job back plain and simple!
There was NO murder; Tamir committed “suicide by cop!” Grabbing for the realistic-looking :toy” handgun tucked in the waistband of his trousers, when facing a police officer less than 12 feet away holding a REAL handgun is and always will be suicide.
Oh, and “Born Against”, the word you were fumbling for is “defuse”, not diffuse.
