Alan Glazen Strikes Again, This Time Downtown

Posted By on Mon, Jun 18, 2012 at 3:39 PM

Alan Glazen is set to make another move in the Cleveland dining and nightlife scene. He says he has an agreement to purchase the historic Ontario Street Café (2053 Ontario St., 216-861-6446).

"We've come to terms," he says.

Glazen, who says that he's been going to the downtown bar for 30 years, says there is nothing to not like about the place.

"It's the last great old-school neighborhood bar downtown," he says. "And for those who might be concerned, we don't plan on changing anything; we'll be preserving another gem."

Located across the street from the Horseshoe Casino, Ontario Street Café is a 40-year-old lounge with an interior and ambiance from another era. Dimly lit, with mahogany bar, professional staffers and rock-bottom prices, this truly is a hidden gem.

Randy Kelly and Linda Syrek, Glazen's partners in ABC Tavern, XYZ Tavern and Viaduct Lounge, will operate the business.
