You can cast aside the predictions of the famous groundhogs and assorted farm animals trotted out across America today to forecast the weather in the ensuing weeks and months because the infallible and adorable Concord Casimir has nibbled his pierogies and made the call.

For the uninitiated, Concord Casimir is a cat that was found outside of St. Casimir Church in 2013. Owner John Niedzialek, an amateur weather guru who teaches Earth Science and Meteorology at Lakeland College, discovered Casimir could forecast the weather better than Punxsutawney Phil or other wannabes simply by eating some tasty pierogies.

The good news: Casimir says we’re going to get some high temps but those will fluctuate with cold fronts and more snow, making a messy end to the winter.

“Keep your galoshes handy,” says Casimir. “The car washes will be remarkably busy.”

That revelation came after Casimir made a mess of his meal today.

“It can only mean one thing of course and finally people are starting to give Casimir the credit he deserves as his forecasts have been flawless,” says Niedzialek.

Mrs. T’s Pierogies knows that to be true and has happily aligned the brand with Casimir’s expertise and authority, providing this year’s nibbles.

“In any case, why would anyone listen to a groundhog?” says Niedzialekk, and few truer words have ever been uttered.
