Former Beacon writer Chuck Klosterman has been declared no longer cool by the Washington Post.

As January comes to an end, so do the best and worst of 2006 lists and all the dubious predictions for 2007. Here are a few of our more recent favorites:
1. CNNMoney.com listed Fiji Water’s ad campaign as the 20th dumbest move in business in 2006. The company’s slogan: “The label says Fiji because It’s not bottled in Cleveland.” When Cleveland officials got wind of the ad, they challenged the Los Angeles-based company by testing its water. The results: While no traces of arsenic were found in Cleveland water, Fiji water has 6.3 micrograms per litre. Take that, sun-stroked yuppies and your fancy $4 water!
2. The Washington Post ran its list of “What’s In and Out in 2007.” Out: Former Akron Beacon Journal writer Chuck Klosterman. It appears that Klosterman has been ousted from his pop culture blowhard throne by Matt Taibbi, a political writer/blowhard for Rolling Stone who the WP claims is “in.” — Denise Grollmus
