Approaching his third anniversary at Edacious (33451 Lake Rd.) in Avon Lake, chef and owner Andrew Gorski is expanding. Early next week he will open William Fine Sandwich Shop & Cold Creamery Co. (140 Lear Rd.), also in Avon Lake. The location has previously been home to Isla’s Ice Cream and Divine Scoops Ice Cream.
Gorski says that the neighborhood shop will offer artisan sandwiches, a handful of salads, and housemade hard-pack ice cream. That ice cream will also get blended into milkshakes, plopped into root beer floats, and scooped onto bananas in a classic split. Shoppers can expect to find eight ice cream flavors at any given time.
The chef is working with both local and regional bakeries for the sandwiches, which will be offered by the half or whole. The Gabagool is an Italian hoagie packed with cold cuts, cheese and vinaigrette. There’s a Cleveland Philly starring ribeye, cheese wiz and giardiniera, a porchetta with rappini and salsa verde, and the Edacious, a mixture of prosciutto, stracciatella, arugula and oil and vinegar. Others feature quality tuna, roasted turkey and mortadella. There also are vegetarian creations.
The spot has a liquor license and Gorski plans to offer uncommon beers and wines alongside craft sodas.
