A gooey slice of pizza inspired the theme behind today’s opening of Spicy, Plain, Cheesy & Loaded. The 40-piece exhibit features the Canton Museum of Art’s ceramics collection — from “plain” pieces, which are simple in style and shape, to “spicy” creations that blaze with hot reds and oranges. “Pizza starts with a basic ingredient — the dough. A ceramic piece starts with a basic ingredient of clay,” says assistant curator Kathy Fleeher. “Like a chef preparing a pizza, artists bring their ingredient to create their pieces.”
