Here’s how the MLB American League All-Star voting is shaking out, as of today. Carlos Santana, aka Prince Charming, is the only offensive player breaching the top five at his position.
Looks like Kipnis’ June hot streak and Reynolds’ early power weren’t enough to garner enough national attention. Former Indian Jhonny “Chubs” Peralta, having a career season in Detroit, is giving the Orioles’ J.J. Hardy a scare at shortstop.

Go vote for your Indians here. You’ve got until Thursday at 11:59 p.m., and you’re allowed to submit up to 25 ballots!
This article appears in Jun 26 – Jul 2, 2013.

The Indians still aren’t commanding any respect among the league. Yes we had a hot start, but then falling on our faces right when balloting getting into full swing sure didn’t help things any. I mean, we’re turning it around now, but a hot, sustained start would have put multiple members of the Tribe into the All Star Game. Maybe they can use this snub as a chip on their shoulders to carry around. Go Tribe!
When you are 28th of 30 in attendance, you are only going to collect so many votes for your players.
It’s the classic popularity contest and – the truth is tough – the Tribe is simply in the bottom tier when it comes to the snappy, national pop culture interest that drives the voting.
