Fela Lockhart was 21 for little more than two hours.

Cleveland police are now investigating the attempted robbery that turned into a murder when Lockhart was shot in his chest outside Harvard Wine and Grille at around 2:30 a.m. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his identity later in the day.

But friends and family, ready for what might have otherwise been a celebratory day, awoke to tragic news. Lockhart’s social media network responded with widespread condolences and disbelief.

A formal investigation is under way, though no suspect information is presently available. Information is welcome at 216-623-5464, the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit.

  1. Nice Ed. “These people?!?!” YOU”RE The obnoxious one!?!? What an ignorant statement!!! I know this kid and if you’re too illiterate to read the article, I believe that it was an attempted robbery. Normally, I would pray for you to become freed from your ignorance but screw you. Live with your karma

  2. Wtf, Ed! Of course he was drunk..it was his fracking 21st b’ day! Doesn’t give fools the right to shoot him. What a double whammy for his family with the holidays. Heartfelt condolences!

  3. To the family and friends of Mr. Fela Lockhart, my prayers and condolences.

To Ed; Who are “These People”????Young educated human beings who decided to have a celebretory drink in a public venue after becoming of legal age to do so? What did you do when you turned 21?
Ignorance is bliss and reading is fundamental. A life was lost here, someone’s baby, undeserving of this type off tragedy. His obituary will read the same date for sunrise and sunset. So, please, please have some type of compassion and not make this about race because I can show you some statistics where “you people” do some pretty ignorant, not to mention tragic, things under the influence and you’re not even of the legal age yet to drink, however because a good number of “you people” suffer from “Affluentza” it doesn’t make the news.

I am going to pray for you, I pray that you or your family never have to feel what this family is feeling right now, I pray that the Lord has mercy on your soul, because baby…
Karma is a b&$!@ and she does not discriminate nor does she forget,
what you sow surely you will reap.

  4. May God give this family peace beyond understanding. I pray for the quick return of Jesus Christ! This world is so very evil.

  5. I hope they find the people/person that killed this young man. So much shooting in this city and no arrest in any. What the fuck!? Are the police doing their job? I hope the killer is caught and I hope the killer gets the injection. Why kill a young man celebrating his Birthday?

  6. Seriously? A young man just wants to celebrate a big milestone in life, and some piece of garbage has to take that away from him. I hope whoever did this gets whats coming to them, and the sooner the better.

  7. Hey Ed. Fela was my young brother and let me set u straight. Because he was MURDERED they did an autopsy and while yes he had a few drinks, he was not DRUNK or under the influence of ANYTHING else! He went to a basketball game and out to hang out w his friends as many young people do for their 21st brithday. He was ROBBED and MURDERED not being obnoxious you prick. Get you head out of your own ass and go have SEVERAL seats. You didnt even stop to think maybe his family would come across this. or if you did maybe u didnt care. Long story short, he was celebrating his BIRTHDAY and was only 21 for a lil over 2 hrs before he was taken. NOTHING justifies this. not even your sorry ass “opinion” of how it went down. And even w your stupid insensitive comments i STILL hope you have a happy holiday unlike that which my family will have you jerk.

  8. One of the perceptions is that all black men particularly young ones are some how unable to control themselves. This young man was robbed and shot. The reality is that in the city of Cleveland the unemployment rate for young black men has been constantly over 20% for the past five years. This coupled with other long term social demographics has led to the increase of robberies and murders in the city. The tone of many people who have been hypnotized by the social media matrix is that all these issues are all related to some lack inherent moral ordering or self control rather than than looking at a a deeper psychological malaise that is rooted in the social economic system that has created a class/racial/social apartheid for these young men that are effected both victims and criminals.

  9. Praying for the family and for the killer to be brought to justice. His life wasn’t lost, it’s not going to be “found.” His life was taken from this Earth much too soon. Senseless violence such as this will continue until a critical mass values equality over competition, and God before guns. My prayers are with this family, and every child who mistakenly thinks that there are no options other than drugs, gangs and crime.

  10. Just curious…what did the assailants look like? Was there a clothing description? Male or female? Black or white?

  11. Hey Leonard, stop trying to write like you’re some kind of Ivy League graduate. Your post is not only ridiculous, it makes absolutely no sense. You obviously picked random words out of a dictionary and plastered them together in an immature attempt to look bright. Well at least I got a good laugh at your post.
