Downtown cars are not enjoying 2011.

There’s bad news for fans of not getting your crap stolen: Downtown Cleveland vehicle break-ins are up by 377 percent over the same period last year.

Through the first three weeks of 2011, 66 break-ins were reported. According to Cleveland cops, at least that many more break-ins have taken place but were not reported by victims.

  1. Gee, I’m sure gonna look froward to going to the new MMPI Medical Mart and Convention Facility knowing by then the car theft rate will be twice as high as it is today.

  2. I frequent Becky’s Bar a lot on 18th. between Payne and Chester and there has to be a car broken into every night. The bad part about it is that people consider that place a cop bar. Go figure!

  3. Maybe the real “cause” is not where we park our car, but the “trash” we tolerate in this city. I feel safer in Chicago at 2 A.M. than any hour in Cleveland. City Hall doesn’t have enough money to hire police officers, buy enough equipment, so we allow the thugs and thieves to live like a scene from “Escape from New York”. Then they play the “civil liberties” or “race card” as if they were the victims. It”s time to go back to a time and take the city back from the lying bank interns that waste tax payer money lying, crack heads, thugs, thieves, killers and other pieces of human waste that victimize society because of their ignorance. I’m not talking a police state, I’m talking about taking back the “O.K. Corral” and making it safe once again. Maybe instead of a medical Mart we should build a state of the art Federal Prison, so there is a visible reminder, rather than a “get out of jail free” card on every corner.

  4. I had my car broken into twice in a matter of a few weeks over by Playhouse Square. I never reported the break-ins, cause they never stole anything, just busted out the rear windows in the back doors and opened the glove box — probably the same moron twice. I now take RTA.
