- CLEVELAND METROPARKS
Good morning, Snow City!
Schools and offices around the region remain closed today as temperatures continue to hover around zero. Snowfall should taper off this afternoon, but the accumulation (10 inches in some areas) is here to stay for awhile.
…All of which begs the very important question: Where is the best place to go sledding in Cleveland?
We haven’t run the question in our annual Best of Cleveland issue in a few years, but back in 2009 readers suggested Hinckley Hills. Still agree?

Hands down Hinckley Hill is the best place to go sledding. It’s free, there’s plenty of parking, and there’s usually a fire going down at the bottom of the hill for anyone that wants to take a break and warm up. Oh, and the hill is huge, so the ride down is worth the hike up!
The Metroparks Hawthorn Parkway sledding hill near Solon Road is great. It also has a fire pit at the top of the hill to stay warm.
Hinckley Hill for sure…. I remember my whole family getting on a long wooden sled, the hill being totally slicked and iced down, a few random homemade “jumps.” We flew down the hill so fast, it was surely dangerous. You hit one of those jumps you were in trouble! My dad just told us at Christmas how when he took us sledding there he would come home with a bleeding tailbone! So much fun, so many memories.
So many memories at Hinckley Hill. Definitely the best hill around!
The best in Lake County is the hill at Todd Field, behind the Willoughby City Hall. Not for the faint at heart!
The hill behind Strongville Medical Center on Pearl Road. Lots of room to spread out.
Easily Hinckley!!!! Best around. Also Berea falls is a pretty decent one as well
