You gotta love when a self-righteous scumbag falls on his face. The Columbus Dispatch reports that Ohio’s biggest rightwing douchebag is in trouble:
The Rev. Rod Parsley has issued a desperate plea for money, telling his flock that he is facing a “demonically inspired financial attack” that is threatening his ministry.Parsley is asking for donations by Dec. 31, calling that date an “unavoidable deadline” during an episode of Breakthrough posted yesterday on www.rodparsley.com. Breakthrough is Parsley’s television show.
A message titled “Crisis — Urgent” on the Web site says ministries such as Breakthrough and World Harvest Bible College need help.
The headline of the appeal for donations reads: “Will you help me take back what the devil stole?”
“The devil” apparently is the then-2-year-old boy who was badly beaten at the daycare center at Parsley’s multi-million-dollar megachurch/compound in 2006 — a sin that cost the poor reverend $3 million. Read the whole thing.
Characterizing this boy as “the devil,” and imploring followers to help make up the deficit that the incident caused, is low even for Parsley, and that’s saying something.
UPDATE: Right Wing Watch provides details about the incident, and others — including the 3-year-old who ended up with a skull fracture at Parsley’s facilities. Suffer the little children indeed.

I’d be careful what I report about Rod Parsley. His ministry has fed and clothes millions. Have you?
Wow! All that, and beating helpless toddlers too! What a fine Christian man he is!
So, I guess the $3M was just lying around, instead of out there “feeding and clothing millions.” Come on, man, wake up. All of these guys are nothing but self-serving hucksters. The only people they’re feeding and clothing is themselves, with a few token “good deeds” done every now and then to keep up appearances. Parsley needs to replace the $3M for but one reason: to maintain the lavish lifestyle I have no doubt he greatly enjoys.
Yes, James. I feed and clothe. And it doesn’t take me millions of dollars to do it.
This was not handled in the best way. But Rod himself did not spank the child, and I am sure did not approve of such action, There are many people who work for his ministry and they are scrutinized and pass back ground checks. In my opinion the demonic attack came through the employee who did such a stupid and completely inappropriate act, causing harm to the boy and World Harvest, I do not think at all that Rod blames the 2 year old boy or his family. I know for a fact that WHC has and is still helping tens of thousands of people here in America and around the world, this ministry does more with less than our Government or NATO ever thought about doing. My hope is that Rod will learn much from this tragic incident and be more aggressive in investigating any incidents in the future. And also how to handle such an incident in the future.
