Via the NEOMG, a 16-year-old girl from Beaumont has been expelled for selling Adderall to classmates. The drug, commonly prescribed for ADHD, is often used by high school and college students as a “study aid” or to, you know, play video games for long stretches.
Police were called to Beaumont — the all-girls’ Catholic high school on North Park Boulevard in Cleveland Heights — back on Dec. 19, right before Christmas break. Evidently, no charges have been filed in juvenile court.
No mention of the event appears in Beaumont’s weekly parent newsletters in December and January, but the NEOMG’s Adam Ferrise says parents would be notified.

The girl was prescribed the medication and sold some pills to other classmates, according to the short NEOMG article. One question that needs answering — whose idea was it to have the girl become a dealer.
Yeah, that whole selling prescription drugs thing is just a tiny bit illegal. Yes, she wasn’t selling a crazy narcotic or anything like that, but it’s still prescription medicine being sold. Hopefully she learned something from this.
I’m surprised they expelled her instead of covering it up. That’s usually what they do.
I’m really sad that this is how Beaumont is reflected in the community. As an alumna of the school, of course I am disappointed that something like this occurred, but Beaumont is a wonderful place which deserves more respect. To be honest, drug busts will happen everywhere, even where they are unexpected in the public eye. There is no reason for this to be what Beaumont is represented as. Beaumont is a fantastic place that fosters a community of sisterhood and offers an amazing education. Beaumont challenged an inspired me in ways that I never deemed possible. I hope that the public recognizes this, as well.
