It’s got a new name, and now the JACK ThistleDown Racino will have some fresh additions too.

New restaurants, a plant wall and a sports bar are the latest upgrades under Jack Entertainment’s $70 million expansion project at the Racino. This phase also includes a 1,000-space garage and 235 more video lottery terminals.

If you’ve been to the Racino at all since Monday you’ve probably seen some of the changes already, but the official grand opening celebration will be this Friday. There will be giveaways, live entertainment and a first look at the new restaurant and pasta bar.

This latest expansion was announced in December 2014, and 50 new employees have been hired to handle the changes.

  1. Thoroughbred racing at the facility had slid to the depths of Waterford Park before the racino rejuvenated the property and added solid dough to the purses. And with the ongoing oval chaos in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Illinois…..ThistleDown has become a bountiful island in a Midwest wasteland for horsemen.
