The Chinese are coming, in a literal invasion, marching into Ohio. That’s how the new ad from a group called Ohioans for Energy Security, which will be spending upwards of a million dollars on TV and radio spots soon, begins, and it continues with even less tenuous grasps on the issues surrounding HB6.
That would be Ohio’s recently passed bill bailing out FirstEnergy’s nuclear power plants, along with subsidizing two coal plants, one of which is in Indiana, owned by Ohio Valley Electric Corporation, in addition to essentially gutting Ohio’s renewable energy mandates on providers.
Assuming it survives, consumers would eventually, years down the line, see savings on their bills, as the state handouts to FirstEnergy — some $150 million annually, with surcharges beginning this fall — and the coal plants — with surcharges beginning in January — will be less than the the cost to consumers passed on by utility companies to comply with the renewable energy mandates.
In advance of a possible referendum on the bill led by a group called Ohioans Against Corporate Bailouts, Ohioans for Energy Security is on a full-on blitz to tell Ohio residents to refuse to sign any petitions. If you do, they claim, it’ll also jeopardize national security, which… doesn’t make sense, and doesn’t make anymore sense after their answer to Cleveland.com’s Jeremy Pelzer’s question of how exactly that is the case.
Ohioans for Energy Security spokesman Carlo LoParo said the anti-HB6 group, with Chinese ties, is “trying to create an energy monopoly in Ohio for their own self-interest.”Ah, yes.
And those marching Chinese, the invasion, the contention that the Chinese government is “quietly invading our electric grid” and “meddling with our elections”?
The justification for these accusations, according an Ohioans for Energy Security release, is that Bill Siderewicz, a natural-gas power plant investor involved with Ohioans Against Corporate Bailouts, has received financing from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, which is owned by the Chinese government.

Thankful, people from Ohio are so undereducated and so I’ll informed, we will send first energy millions every year, because they can fool the rabble.
Remember when we were so worried about the Japanese owning the United States in the 80s? Michael Crichton wrote a whole novel about it. “If you give up control of your own institutions, you give up everything. And generally, whoever pays for an institution controls it. If the Japanese are willing to put up the money–and if the American government and American industry aren’t–then the Japanese will control American education.”
In the 40s and 50s it was Russians, in the 80s it was the Japanes, now it’s the Chinese and Spanish-speaking migrants, tomorrow it’s Indians or Iranians, the next day it’s some other scary foreign power. They always need someone who isn’t American for us to all rally around being scared of.
lololol this video literally starts with “they took er jerbs”
Vote for Pedro!
So check out 30 seconds into the commercial. A group of alleged Chinese offices appear to be voting on some measure to destroy our energy grid…under the symbol of a Hammer & Sickle! When did China take over Russia, and when did they decide to revert to the political symbol of the now-defunct Soviet Union? It seems as if the media was asleep at the switch to miss that news flash. Sorry, but that photo screams fake news! I laugh every time I see the commercial as does everyone I know. How did that make it past the powers that be at the OACB? It’s a joke, one designed to frighten Americans back into a cold-war mentality. If your trying to make a point do not do it attempting to insult my intelligence. Give me facts, not fake images. My apologies to the rocket scientist who put together that commercial. Grades are in, you got an “F”.
First energy made$1,348,000,000 in profit in 2018, according to Fortune magazine! They( The investment groups and bond holders-mostly from N.Y.) can pay their own way out of their problems! Sign YES to the petition!
Mr. Lee….perhaps a bit more research would show you that Cuba, VietNam, AND CHINA have used the hammer and sickle as a symbol of the supposed union between workers and peasants (i.e. farmers). The symbol is the official symbol not of the Chinese government but of the Communist Party in China. Seriously, how much distance is there between the Communist party and the government in China? Please tone down unwarranted criticism that only shows a lack of information.
why is this shit not illegal
Very misleading and should be illegal. HB6 is nothing but corporate welfare. First Energy announced the shut down of the two Ohio plants two years ago! Now it a giant conspiracy by the Chinese? I am a nuclear energy advocate, but if the taxpayer of Ohio have to belly up every year, thats wrong.. Sign the petition and stop this gross misappropriation of Ohio tax dollars.
