[image-1]Youngstown State University has settled with Ma’lik Richmond, the former Steubenville High School football player who was convicted of rape as a teenager.
Under the terms of the deal, Richmond will remain on the YSU football team, and the University will cover all legal costs.
Earlier this school year, a YSU student circulated a petition calling for Richmond to be barred from the team. In response, the university announced that Richmond would forfeit a year of eligibility. YSU wanted to demonstrate that it was taking issues of sexual assault seriously.
Richmond filed suit on Sep. 13. His attorneys argued that Richmond was a student in good standing, and that YSU had hindered his career prospects by curtailing his eligibility.

All for him getting an education, football is an extra curricular activity. He alone hurt his prospects for his future. its time coaches and university become more concerned with educating their student athletes and guarding against bring just an Athlete on because he can play and bring’s the kind of baggage on this nature with him. his first year should have been more about his education and seeing if he can remain in good standing as a student and citizen of the university, then allowing him to play. Once he has shown he can and will preform in the class room and in society, allowing those who are around him to build bonds based on Charterer and less on being able to tackle opposing football players on the field. hopefully the coach and university President will be more interested in this mans future in
in life based on his education then they are on winning football games. Improve his chances in the real word and then his skills on the field.
