Five of the six officers fired after the November 2012 police chase and shooting deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams were reinstated earlier this month after an arbitrator’s ruling this summer. The sixth officer, of course, was Michael Brelo — the arbitrator ruled that he should remain fired.
The cops who’ve won their jobs back are Michael Farley, Erin O’Donnell, Christopher Ereg, Wilfredo Diaz and Brian Sabolik.
It was a year ago that appeals were filed by the officers for discipline delivered after the chase and hailstorm of 137 bullets that took the lives of Russell and Williams. Cleveland police union president Steve Loomis had been adamant that they’d eventually win out. While the aforementioned five did, six other officers and detectives who’d appealed suspensions were denied.
The city announced the news in a brief, curt statement befitting their disagreement with the development.
“The officers were reinstated as required by the arbitrator’s decision,” it read.

This is so pathetic. This incident was one of the most stupid things the CPD has ever done. Our police department was the laughing stock of the nation and two innocent people were killed. No one involved should still be working for CPD. Horrendous.
