When cancer strikes, it can feel overwhelming and isolating. Yet, even in the darkest moments, there is light. The strength of community, the power of hope, and the determination to create change. That’s what Blood Cancer United, formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, brings to Cleveland each year through Light The Night at Wade Oval.
On Sunday, October 5th, more than 2,000 people came together for this annual tradition, raising funds to support the organization’s Bold Goal: by 2040, Blood Cancer United will enable people with blood cancer to gain more than one million years of life.
But Light The Night is more than a fundraiser. It’s a night of remembrance, celebration, and strength. Participants carry lanterns that tell their story: white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold to honor loved ones lost. As thousands of lanterns rose together over Wade Oval, they sent a powerful message: No one walks alone.
This year’s event was made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors including Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Ziegler Bolt & Nut, Walgreens, Daichii Sankyo, KeyBank, Akron Children’s Hospital, Natera, Johnson & Johnson, Leikin Motors, and Civista Bank.
