Brewmaster’s Stash

On the first Thursday of every month, Great Lakes Brewing Company releases a special small-batch beer selected by the brewmaster. The pub taps the brew for the day and then it’s served until it is gone. You can even load up a crowler or growler to take the stuff home if you like.

The Great Big Home + Garden Show

The 10-day Great Big Home + Garden Show is back at the I-X Center through Sunday. It features a whopping 600 exhibits centering on how to “renew, refresh and restore” your home and garden. Landscaping experts will present daily gardening seminars. Check the show’s website for hours and a complete schedule of happenings.

Hadelich Plays Mendelssohn

Violinist August Hadelich joins the Cleveland Orchestra for this special concert that features pieces by Mendelssohn, Schoenberg and Schubert. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Mandel Concert Hall, where performances repeat tomorrow and Saturday.

OPIUO

A New Zealand native, this producer has churned out electronica hits for more than a decade now. A festival favorite, he’s played Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, Electric Forest and Splendor in the Grass. He performs at 7 p.m. at Globe Iron. Parkbreezy and rSUN. open.

Will Overman

This singer-songwriter out of Virginia worked with producers Bobby Holland and Brad Sample on his sophomore album, Stranger. His tour in support of the album brings him to the Treelawn tonight at 7:30.

Suffs

The Tony Award-winning musical about women who fight for the right to vote comes to Connor Palace for an extended run. Tonight’s show takes place at 7:30 at Connor Palace, where the play runs through Feb. 22.

Badfish — A Tribute to Sublime: The Blizzy Tour

The Sublime tribute act has started to write original material that draws from rock and reggae. The group has a few singles that it’ll incorporate into the mix when it plays tonight at 7 at House of Blues.

Dry Bones Screening

This locally produced documentary about a shooting that took place in Elyria in 1975 screens at 5 p.m. today at Karamu House as part of the 5th Annual Film Forward Documentary Spotlight series put on by the Greater Cleveland Film Commission. A talkback with talkback with the filmmaker, Dr. Tara Conley, Assistant Professor in the School of Media & Journalism at Kent State University, follows the screening, and a free documentary filmmaking workshop takes place tomorrow at the Kent State University – Independence Campus College of Podiatric Medicine. GCFC Production Coordinator and documentarian Mike Wendt will moderate.

Montgomery Gentry Featuring Eddie Montgomery

The Southern rock/country group dates back to the late ’90s when it formed as a duo. Now, in the wake of the death of founding member Troy Gentry, singer Eddie Montgomery leads the band as a solo act. The group performs at 7:30 p.m. at MGM Northfield Park’s Center Stage.

GlamGore

Produced, marketed, and hosted by locally based Anhedonia Delight, this monthly show at the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights feature both “beauty queens” and “drag monsters.” Tonight’s performance begins at 9:30.

The Heart of Robin Hood

This retelling of the Robin Hood story will offer “daring feats, electrifying action and a hint of romance,” as it’s put in a press release about the story that famously takes place in Sherwood Forest. Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 at the Hanna Theatre, where performances continue through Feb. 22.

MIX: Peace, Love, and Soul

DJ Kristyles and the Kinsman Dazz Band will be on hand for this edition of MIX, the Cleveland Museum of Art’s monthly party. The event serves as a celebration of Black History Month. It begins at 6 p.m.

Jay Pharoah

When Jay Pharaoh was on Saturday Night Live, he did very funny impersonations of President Obama, Jay Z, Denzel Washington, Kanye West and Daniel Frye. Each impression Pharaoh did was spot-on and hilarious. He performs at 6:30 and 9:15 tonight and tomorrow night at Hilarities.

Seussical

This musical at Near West Theatre features a cast of young performers ages 9–15. Expect to hear excerpts from stories such as Horton Hears a Who!, The Cat in the Hat, and Gertrude McFuzz. Tonight’s performance takes place at 7:30, and performances continue through Feb. 22.

Bayker Blankenship — The Mile Marker Tour

The up-and-coming country artist performs at 7 p.m. at House of Blues. Singles such as the twangy “My Truck, Some Weed, and a Guitar” and the ballad “Everything She Does” suggest Blankenship’s straightforward approach. At only 20, Blankenship does write with a great deal of introspection, but he sings with confidence.

Mardi Gras Party with Mo’ Mojo

This local band that effortlessly plays alt-country and zydeco is the perfect group to host a Mardi Gras party at Music Box Supper Club. Band leader Jen Maurer sings and plays accordion; she’s led the group since its formation in the ’90s. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Jeff

The local musician and educator known for making kids’ music that appeals to listeners of all ages comes to the Akron Civic Theatre’s Knight Stage. The show begins at 2:30 p.m.

Ninajirachi

With the release of last year’s I Love My Computer, Australia’s Ninajirachi garnered all kinds of praise in her homeland. It received several ARIA nominations and launched her as a national act. Songs such as the undulating “London Song” feature sophisticated production and recall the best drum and bass from the ’90s. The show starts at 7 p.m. at Globe Iron.

The Return of the Vampire Hustlers from Hell

The Return of the Vampire Hustlers from Hell is a record release party and group art exhibition that brings together Emmy-winning composer Silas Hite, graphic illustrator D-WREX and a collective of Northeast Ohio visual artists . The event takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Electric Company in Akron.

Valentine’s Market

More than 20 vendors will be on hand for this event at Mahall’s 20 Lanes that’ll feature everything from candles to vintage clothes. The club’s bar and kitchen will be open, and admission is free. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Close Encounters: Taplin Quartet performs From East to West

The locally based Taplin Quartet plays music by Debussy and Lei Liang at this special classical concert that takes place at 3 p.m. at Dunham Tavern.
