11/8: TC’s Promise Benefit

Julie and Chris Ilcin’s son, Therlow “TC” Cash, died shortly after childbirth because of intraventricular hemorrhage last year. In order to honor their son and help other children, the Ilcins established TC’s Promise, a nonprofit that will award an annual scholarship to the Lincoln Electric Welding School to one Northeast Ohio foster child coming out of care. Apparently there’s a high demand for welders, and the Ilcins feel this is the best way to give an otherwise destitute youth the opportunity to make a decent living. The Ilcins are hosting the first annual TC’s Promise Sound Check Party at the Beachland Tavern (15711 Waterloo Rd., 216.383.1124) to help raise funds. Local rock bands Redwater Rojo, Hiram Rapids Stumblers and Andy Cook + the Wander Loons are slated to play, and there will also be a raffle and an auction of prizes. Tickets for a meet-and-greet sound check, which starts at 6 p.m., are $25. Admission for the 8 p.m. concert is $10. — Jeff Niesel
