With COVID-19 raging across the country, indoor dining is declining and the local restaurants need help. There are stay-at-home advisories and a statewide curfew that are providing additional hurdles. Plus, it’s Thanksgiving, and you’re gonna do enough cooking for an entire week and be tired of leftovers come Friday afternoon. Why not grab takeout from one of these 25 spots to give yourself a break from the turkey and put some money back into the community.

Academy Tavern 12800 Larchmere Ave., Cleveland “This place blew me out of the water with their food! I have been wanting to try this place out because no one I know has been and WOW I love their food! I came here with my monthly pierogi group and it was well worth the drive from the westside the eastside. We shared an order of pierogies and a full size Corned Beef Egg Roll. Don’t be fooled, this is not your average egg roll! It is ginormous and is so jam packed with corned beef. Out of all the pierogies we have tried, I have to say these are in the top as the best in Cleveland,” Cara L. on Yelp. Photo via @DJMikel/Instagram
Cedar Creek Grille 2101 Richmond Rd., Beachwood “Love Cedar Creek Grille. I try to go a couple of times a month. The vibe is spot on. Whoever designed/decorated knew what they were doing. Ditto for Lindey’s Lake House. The food here is always good. The chop salad with salmon is excellent. I know it’s a common dish, but they do it really well. The bartenders are always friendly and have a smile. Definitely a gem in the area,” Jim T. on Yelp Photo via via Scene Archives
Sarita a Restaurant 14523 Madison Ave., Lakewood “Sarita is an outstanding restaurant with a well-considered menu of excellent choices, appropriate variety, and exceptional daily specials. The restaurant is a perfect combination of surpassing regional quality standards while maintaining a friendly, local, neighborhood feel. It’s a perfect dinner location for any occasion,” R.B. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Humble Wine Bar 15400 Detroit Ave., Lakewood “Love this place! Nice wine selection and delicious signature cocktails. If you are getting food, don’t miss out on their wood fired pizza. The mushroom one is our favorite, but we haven’t had one we didn’t like. Great staff. They are really friendly and accommodating. So glad to have this place local,” Rebekah K. on Yelp Photo via @HumbleWineBar/Instagram
Bombay Chaat 2044 Euclid Ave., Cleveland “This is one of my favorite Indian places in Cleveland! They have a wide variety of food on their menu from South Indian to chaat to North Indian foods. Things we have enjoyed: many of the North Indian curries (paneer tikka, palak paneer, kadai paneer, bhindi), chaat items (ragada patties, samosa chole, papdi chaat), South Indian (masala dosa, medu vada). Amazing food, great varied menu with so many options to choose from and friendly staff,” Supi S. on Yelp Photo via @EmBlauman/Instagram
Stancato’s 7380 State Rd., Parma “Our group of thirteen had a wonderful dining experience at Stancato’s. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We will definitely return and tell our friends all about this awesome restaurant!” Paula P. on Yelp Photo via @Stancatos/Instagram Credit: Scene Archives
Tree Country Bistro 1803 Coventry Rd., Cleveland Heights “My husband and I decided to try this place out when we were craving some Asian food.cAnd this place did not disappoint. We ordered takeout due to not being able to dine in due to COVID. We ordered the crispy chicken and the summer rolls with shrimp, and everything was delicious and fresh. The crispy chicken was too spicy for my husband, but the right amount of heat for me! The summer rolls were really good. Counting down to when we can go back, and maybe next time dine in.” Danielle G. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Canary’s Family Restaurant 29891 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted and 14810 Puritas Ave.,, Cleveland “I’m originally from Jersey, the diner capital of the universe, so it’s always nice to see ‘old school Americana’ preserved when I go to a newfound diner/family restaurant that is affordable and family owned and run. There really aren’t too many of these places left anymore, even though they used to dot the landscape across major urban areas and suburbia back in the day. Almost anything I order here, or any family run NE Ohio diner tastes great, with large portions, and is inexpensive. You just don’t get that with the national or even regional ‘chains’. I often come here for breakfast or dinner, because the variety and value are ‘off the charts’. Where else can I get a Greek omelet, with toast, hash brown potatos, and coffee, for around 5 to 7 dollars?!” Xela N. on Yelp Photo via Canary’s Family Restaurant/Facebook
Tandul 2505 Professor Ave., Cleveland “Ordered delivery for dinner. I ordered chicken tikka masala, paneer masala, and samosas. Everything was packaged so well, which is important especially when the dishes that you order have a lot of sauce and rice! The samosas were PERFECT! Just a little kick of spice on the inside, and super crunchy. The chicken tikka masala and the paneer masala were excellent as well. I felt like they gave me A LOT of food for what I ordered (which means leftovers, yay!). I would definitely recommend ordering from this restaurant! I will be ordering from them again!” Alyssa R. on Yelp Photo via Tandul In Tremont/Facebook
Crumb and Spigot 16783 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls “5 stars without a question. Found this place on Yelp and I was in the mood for pizza. It had good ratings so we went to check it out. Pleasantly surprised this place not only has good pizza but also other phenomenal food. Tried the meatball pizza which was good. Also tried the “bar steak”. I don’t remember the type of steak it was but that was the name on the menu. This was melt in your mouth good with a sauce on it that enhanced the flavor even more. This was served with a potato. Probably the best steak I have had in a long long time. My mouth is watering just thinking of it,” Nikki T. on Yelp Photo via @Crumb&Spigot/Instagram
Tick Tock Tavern 11526 Clifton Ave., Cleveland “If you want home cooked food up until 2 a.m. this is the place. I get a half slab of ribs, baked potato and a side salad every time and I’m always so amazed by the meal and the 10$ cost! So worth it. You get tired of fast food and take out and just want real home cooked food. This is it!,” Sarah S. on Yelp Photo via @RCHillman/Instagram
Delmonico’s Steakhouse 6001 Quarry Ln., Independence “Came here for our two year anniversary and could not have asked for a better experience. I had the lobster bisque as an appetizer, and my boyfriend had the stuffed peppers. Both were outstanding! Best lobster bisque I have ever had, and I would go back for that soup alone! I also ordered the champagne steak and lobster and it was out of this world. It was seriously the best meal I have ever had,” Jessi B. on Yelp Photo via Delmonico’s Steakhouse/Facebook
Pho Thang Cafe 815 Superior Ave. East, Cleveland “Up for debate but the best pho in Cleveland is at Pho Thang! I have been to a few other Vietnamese places in Cleveland, and friends and I agree that the pho at Pho Thang beats all. I’ve been here a few times pre-COVID and really enjoyed both the pho and my personal favorite, bun. The pork in the bun is perfectly marinated and it’s a great dish if you’re not really feeling a huge bowl of soup. I highly recommend the bun here during the summer. The broth for the pho itself is excellent and comes as a pretty decent portion size as well,” Leah L. on Yelp. Photo via Scene Archives
The Jolly Scholar 11111 Euclid Ave., Cleveland “This is one of my favorite hidden gems in Northeast Ohio. I believe they had no less than a dozen of their own beers on tap, and all 3 I sampled were world class. The food is as good as brewpub fare gets; on my two trips, the standard burger was prepared perfectly, and their take on hot chicken was as good as I’ve had. Prices for both food and drink are more than reasonable,” Rob H. on Yelp Photo via @NoneFlyer/Instagram
Thyme2 113 West Smith St., Medina “This is one of our favorite restaurants in Medina. Every single item they have on the menu is delicious. Their scallops are hands down the best around, they are cooked to perfection and the dish changes slightly with the seasons. One of the best parts about the menu is it isn’t overwhelming. They have great options and are fresh and cooked to perfection. The pub has casual eats (but still NOT your average bar food). Their garage fries are amazing- basically they throw everything on these from cheese to pork to an amazing sauce and more. Their lobster pizza can’t be beat (all of their pizzas are delicious.) They also make homemade ice cream as a small treat at the end,” Sarah I. on Yelp Photo via Scene Archives
Square 22 13485 Pearl Rd., Strongsville “Such a great restaurant with delicious food located in the suburbs of Cleveland. Slightly on the higher end of the budget but it is a very classy restaurant. I ordered the Antarctic salmon with pumpkin bisque and roasted pears which was delicious. Another popular choice at the table was the bourbon braised angus beef short rib and the side of garlic and butter spaetzles – the spaetzle seems to be very popular here! The filet mignon with the asparagus and potatoes were also a popular choice. Wine choices were plentiful. Service was attentive! Great food in Strongsville,” Erika L. on Yelp Photo via Square 22/Facebook
Taki’s Greek Kitchen 377 Lear Rd., Avon Lake “This place is awesome. The Greek fare here is fantastic. I always get the moussaka, really kind of a Greek shepherd’s pie. Piping hot, wonderful flavored ground beef w potato & eggplant in there. Big ass bowl – it’s quite a meal, TRY IT. My brother gets pasticio which is a nice Greek lasagna Monday special,” Greg G. on Yelp Photo via
Rincón Criollo 6504 Detroit Ave., and 7403 Denison Ave., Cleveland “Ordered takeout and was not disappointed. Delicious food! Would definitely go again. The empanadillas were my personal favorite (tried both chicken and beef). The entrees come with a lot of food so great for leftovers,” Ashley E. on Yelp Photo via Rincón Criollo/Facebook
TJ’s On The Avenue 7485 Mentor Ave., Mentor “Love this place! I order from here whenever I’m in the mood for Italian food. Reasonable prices, large portions, and so many good dishes on the menu. A few of my favorites are the chicken madison, the chicken marsala, the chicken and shrimp florentine, and their seafood alfredo. If everyone knew about this place Olive Garden would be out of business,” Chandler O. on Yelp Photo via TJ’s On The Avenue/Facebook
Paris Room 7 North Franklin St., Chagrin Falls “Delicious! I absolutely love how they’re still paying attention to plating even when it’s a takeout order. Our experience with the Paris Room has been great- for this order, we chose to go with curbside pickup so they just dropped off the food after we drove up. Love this little place and it keeps getting better. Will definitely be back!” Naoko O. on Yelp Photo Provided
